The 3DM file format is an advanced 3D graphics format based around the NURBS method of representing 3D data. 3DM files are the native format used by the Rhinoceros 3D CAD application.
The advantages of using 3DM files to store 3D data are primarily down to the mathematically superior NURBS method compared to other 3D formats that store 3D objects as a series of triangles, which is how formats such as STL store 3D data.

As the 3DM format currently does not support the use of material colors when used by tool, your converted model will contain only the mesh geometry, material colors will not be transferred to your converted file.

The BLEND file format is a mesh-based format, meaning the 3D models created within Blender are stored in the form of 3D meshes composed of vertices and faces. Along with 3D object geometry, Blender supports the creation of animations, and this too is included in the BLEND file.
