Who could not have missed the release of Pokémon Go recently, which has sent the world's population into a collect 'em all frenzy.
I will probably do a whole host of 3D designs inspired by the game. Here is my first: The Pokémon Go Pokécoin!
To begin with, I take the original bitmap image and convert it to a 3D STL format file. This process creates a very rough-looking 3D model from the image, which I will use to sketch around later on.
Now I sketch around the main Pikachu character on the coin:
All that is left is to create a basic coin shape and extrude the Pikachu sketch on top!
With the design completed, we are ready to print! The choice of plastic was a simple gold-colored PLA plastic, which I think looks great for this sort of item.
