The GCODE format is a file format mainly associated with 3D printers and CNC machines. These files contain low-level instructions to control these machines; for example, in a 3D printer, these instructions move the print head, adjust the height of the print bed, and control the speed at which the plastic is extruded from the print head.

These GCODE files are created by Slicer software, which takes 3D model files, often in the STL or 3MF format, and converts these models into the low-level instructions present in the GCODE file.

GCODE Converter Capabilities

As the GCODE format currently does not support the use of material colors when used by tool, your converted model will contain only the mesh geometry, material colors will not be transferred to your converted file.

The Khronos Group created the DAE file, a 3D model file format. The format is an XML text-based format, storing the 3D model information in a standardized XML structure, ensuring it is easy to add additional features without introducing compatibility issues.

Many 3D editing applications support the importing and exporting of DAE files, including the popular 3D editor Blender.

Mesh Geometry

DAE files support mesh geometry along with various types of surface definitions, from simple triangles to full polygon meshes. It has support for face and vertex normals and texture coordinates too. Mesh elements defined within the XML structure can be shared between multiple 3D objects within the final rendered scene.

DAE Converter Capabilities

As the DAE format currently does not support the use of material colors in 3D models when created using our tool, your converted model will contain only the mesh geometry, material colors will not be transferred to your converted DAE file.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert my GCODE to DAE?

First, click the "Select File" button and choose your GCODE file. We will upload and convert your GCODE file. Once the conversion from GCODE to DAE completes, use the provided link to download your DAE file.

How long does it take to convert my GCODE file to DAE?

We aim to process all GCODE to DAE file conversions as soon as possible; this should take around 5 seconds; however, this may be longer for larger files.

Is the GCODE format suitable for 3D printing?

No. Most 3D printing slicer software will not support the GCODE format. It is recommended to convert your GCODE file to the STL format if you wish to 3D print it.
